It’s the first documentary in the Cliburn “Remember When” brown bag series presented by the Music/Media Library and the Cliburn Archive. Bring your lunch and join us in the Screening Room at noon on the dates listed below as we view highlights of our favorite past Competitions through the documentaries of the Cliburn Foundation.

Brown Bag Lunch Series: Cliburn & Competition

A thrilling hour of suspense, surprises, nostalgia and superb artistry… with a PB&J in one hand and a glass of milk in the other! It’s the Cliburn “Remember When” brown bag series presented by the Music/Media Library and the Cliburn Archive. Bring your lunch and join us in the Screening Room at noon on the dates listed below as we view highlights of our favorite past Competitions through the documentaries of the Cliburn Foundation. It’s excellent information for the Cliburn newbie and fun nostalgia for the Cliburn veteran. See how the Competition has changed over the decades. Experience the highest highs and the lowest depths as budding artists make their mark on the classical music world. It really is all that and a bag of chips!

We saved the best for last. With no daytime current Competition offerings, come watch the highlights of one of the most thrilling and artistically amazing Competitions in Cliburn history – a nail biter ending and the launch of some of the most active careers in the piano world.

TCU Forensics Debates The Irish Times at Library on March 30

TCU Forensics will be hosting a parliamentary-style public debate against The Irish Times championship debaters. The debate will feature three members of TCU Forensics against the three champions of The Irish Times national debate tournament. The resolution for the debate is as follows: This house believes that a melting pot is preferable to a tossed salad.

The debate will be held on March 30, 2017 at 7:00pm in the Reading Room of the Mary Couts Burnett Library. Refreshments will be provided following the event.

Full biographies on the TCU debaters are on the TCU Forensics website. They will be debating against Dara Keenan and Aisling Tully of University College Dublin, as well as Leah Morgan of Solicitor’s Apprentice Debating Society of Ireland (SADSI).

Free 3-D Printing Workshop

The Fab Lab is offering a free workshop aiming to educate you in digital fabrication. In this workshop we will learn the basics of 3-D printing, and how to create an object using TinkerCAD, a digital fabrication program.

2016 Homecoming & Family Weekend Open House

Please join us for the 2016 Homecoming & Family Weekend Open House on Friday, September 16 from 1 – 3 pm. This open house combines a variety of social and educational opportunities at the TCU Library. Some of the things you will likely see and experience are the TCU vs. Iowa State game-day giveaways, parents can see first-hand where students succeed academically, full family photo ops, technology gadgets, tasty treats and much, much more.
