The Mary Couts Burnett Library:
Cornerstone of the Academy of Tomorrow

New West Entrance of Mary Couts Burnett Library

We’re going to make our library into the library of the 21st century by invigorating it and reissuing the call to everyone on campus that the library is the heart of academic learning at Texas Christian University.

–Victor J. Boschini Jr., Chancellor, Texas Christian University

TCU’s vision for the Academy of Tomorrow includes a new Intellectual Commons on the East Campus of TCU, at the heart of which will be a new instructional building, Rees-Jones Hall, that is connected to and integrated with a redesigned and repurposed library.

The library is not going to be bigger, it’s not going to be smaller, but it’s going to look completely different inside and out. It will have fewer stacks of books, more interactive study places. Less quiet, more noisy. It’ll have food. It’ll be a place people go 24/7.
