LIBRARY COURSE RESERVES – FALL SEMESTER 2009

If you intend to put library material on reserve (print or electronic) for fall semester, we’re prepared to begin the process now. The more material we process early in August, the quicker the turnaround time will be for processing reserves for faculty who submit items in late August when everyone returns to campus.

Please send requests for items going on reserve at the main reserves desk to Karen Weber (k.weber@tcu.edu or ext. 6113) or Cheryl Sassman (c.sassman@tcu.edu or ext. 7266). Please submit requests for items going on reserve in the Music/Media Library to Music Librarian Cari Alexander (c.Alexander2@tcu.edu or ext. 6623).

Forms for e-Reserves submission are here
(please print them out, just in case they don’t transmit).

  • For physical reserves, please look up and select the desired items using the library’s online catalog, collect them using the BASKET function, and e-mail the completed list to k.weber@tcu.edu. Our staff will be happy to pull items from the stacks for course reserves.
  • If you had items on physical or electronic reserve in past semesters, please contact us so they may be activated for the new semester. Contact k.weber@tcu.edu (or ext. 6113) to learn their current reserves status if you’re unsure.
  • Please submit reserve requests two weeks in advance of their assignments. Requests are processed in the order in which we receive them. If you need course reserves available when classes start, please submit your list now.
  • If your list includes items not already owned by the library, tell us immediately. It can take time to obtain items that are out of stock at the publisher or have been discontinued. If we cannot obtain an item, we will inform you as soon as possible;
  • Many articles are already available via our many electronic journal databases. Use the Search E-Journals by Title link to see if the articles your students need are obtainable via our electronic journal resources. You may even be able to link them to your eCollege course shells;
  • If you plan to photocopy book excerpts or journal articles not available online, please consult our guidelines regarding copyright compliance and placing items on online course reserve.
  • If you haven’t used Reserves in the past and you have items that your entire class needs to access, please consider Reserves as a good option to ensure timely assignment completion.
